There are three Korg DS-8 protocols included here. They are
1) DS-8.bulkdump - receives and sends the contents of the 100 voices in internal memory. The 10 combinations must be sent and received separately.
2) DS-8.AllCombiDump - receives and sends the contents of the 10 combinations in internal memory.
3) DS-8.1Voice - receives and sends the contents of the currently displayed internal voice.
To use these protocols first press the "function" key, then select number 8, and turn "exclusive" to "on". Then select function 4 and turn off the keyboard's memory protect. Press the function key once more so that the keyboard is displaying a voice name (or press the "program" button).
When sending bulk data and the allcombidump, the data is written to memory automatically. When sending a single voice using the DS-8.1voice, after the voice is sent, the voice must be written to memory using the write button on the keyboard.
I have found that the DS-8 system exclusive function is very buggy. The bulkdump from the keyboard to the computer takes some time and you may have to try it a few times to get it to work. Before attempting to use these protocols from a performance, SAVE THE PERFORMANCE FIRST. If things don't seem to be working, turn the DS-8 off and then back on and reset the system exclusive to "on" and memory protect to "off". Save the library after every successful dump. Sometimes the Computer inexplicably hangs up and the only thing that can be done is to reboot (Also turn the keyboard off and then back on).
